Amazfit Balance 3 Golf Watch Adds Bigger Screen, Faster GPS

Amazfit has released the Balance 3, an update to its multisport watch that doubles as a GPS golf watch, with a redesigned display, faster processing hardware and a reworked control button.

What changed on the Amazfit Balance 3?

The watch now uses a 1.5-inch AMOLED display rated at 3,000 nits of brightness and covered in sapphire glass, aimed at keeping the screen readable in direct sunlight. Amazfit sells the Balance 3 in two versions: a stainless steel model at $369.99 and a titanium alloy model at $449.99.

Amazfit says the watch's processor generates 2.5 times faster than the previous Balance 2, and refreshes course maps up to 12 times faster. The action button on the top right of the case, which on the Balance 2 could be triggered accidentally during a golf swing and launch the watch's voice assistant, has been made smaller on the Balance 3 to reduce accidental presses.

What golf features does it include?

The watch draws from a library of more than 40,000 golf courses through the companion Zepp app, though each course must be downloaded to the watch before a round. On the course, it provides yardages to the front, center and back of greens as well as to hazards and bunkers, and includes a pin-position adjustment feature. After a round, the Zepp app logs basic stats including greens in regulation, putts and a map of the holes played.

A faster processor doesn't change the yardage on the screen; it changes how quickly the watch gets it there.

Reviewers have found the golf mode improved over the Balance 2 without being reinvented, with hardware speed as the main upgrade rather than new on-course tools. The watch remains positioned as a general fitness device with golf built in, rather than a dedicated golf-only GPS watch.
