Charlie Woods Signs NIL Deal With TaylorMade Before FSU

TaylorMade announced Friday that it has signed Charlie Woods to a name, image and likeness agreement. Woods, the son of Tiger Woods, is entering his senior year of high school and is committed to play college golf at Florida State starting next season.

How common are NIL deals in men's college golf?

Equipment support itself is routine; manufacturers have long outfitted top junior and college prospects with free clubs, balls and apparel. A paid NIL agreement is rarer. A head coach of a Top 20 Division I men's program told Golfweek that he estimated only 25 to 30 men's college golfers currently hold a deal that pays them money from a manufacturer.

Woods has one significant junior tournament title to his name, a résumé that reflects real accomplishment but is not, on its own, typical of golfers who land manufacturer pay deals of this kind.

Has TaylorMade made a similar bet before?

Yes. In early 2025, TaylorMade signed Kai Trump, a University of Miami freshman and granddaughter of President Donald Trump, to an NIL agreement. Like Woods, Trump's public profile extends well beyond her tournament results, and TaylorMade has pointed to that broader visibility as part of the appeal in both signings.

TaylorMade is paying for attention now on the chance it keeps paying off for years.

Woods will begin his college career at Florida State next year, joining a program that will compete against some of the top amateur talent in the country. The terms of his NIL agreement with TaylorMade were not disclosed.
