College Golf's Biggest Coaching Changes for 2026-27

A wave of head coaching changes hit college golf this offseason, with several Power Four programs turning to coaches with national championship pedigree or in-conference success as the 2026-27 season begins.

Which men's programs have new head coaches?

Ryan Hybl, who won the 2017 national championship at Oklahoma, is replacing longtime Georgia Tech coach Bruce Heppler. Jonathan Moore, the 2006 NCAA individual champion for Oklahoma State, moves up to replace Hybl at Oklahoma after leading the Sooners to three straight NCAA regional titles as an assistant. At Georgia, Mookie DeMoss was promoted from assistant to replace Chris Haack. Andrew Danna leaves NCAA Division II Lynn, where he won a national title in 2018, to take over at Houston, the program with the most men's national championships in NCAA history. Other new hires include Todd Miller at BYU, replacing the retiring 34-year coach Bruce Brockbank; Thomas Sutton at Washington, arriving from Arizona State; and Jean-Paul Hebert at Baylor, arriving from UNLV.

Which women's programs have new head coaches?

Lydia Lasprilla leaves Houston, where she guided the Cougars to four straight NCAA regional appearances and their first NCAA Championship berth in 2026, to take over at Alabama following Mic Potter's departure. Houston replaced her with Rachel Pollock, who led Louisiana-Monroe to two Sun Belt Conference titles. JD Lamm moves up from Division II Wingate to lead Troy after guiding both the men's and women's programs there to NCAA Championship match play appearances.

The carousel moved fastest at the top - four different Power Four programs will open the season with a coach who has never led that team before.

Several of the moves are direct swaps within the same conference footprint, with Hybl and Moore effectively trading jobs between Georgia Tech and Oklahoma, and Lasprilla and Pollock doing the same between Alabama and Houston.
