Mel Reid Explains Why Charley Hull Was Late to Solheim Tee

European vice captain Mel Reid moved to shut the story down at a press conference later that day.

Reid told reporters that Hull was in bed by 8 p.m. the previous night and was the first player on the team bus that morning. Reid said Hull "doesn't even drink," calling the drinking story false, and said the lateness was on her rather than Hull, since she was responsible for getting Hull to the tee.

Hull ended up just five minutes past her tee time. Reid noted that pulling Hull off the practice range on schedule is a recurring challenge, and that this week's opening hole at Bernardus Golf is normally the course's third, making for a longer walk from the practice facility than players are used to.

European captain Anna Nordqvist said Hull did not arrive in the Netherlands until Monday evening, after team members arrived on different days.
