Scotty Cameron Phantom 9.5R Putter Hits Retail Sept. 30

Scotty Cameron is adding the Phantom 9.5R to its regular retail lineup on Sept. 30, bringing the mallet Cameron Young has used for three PGA Tour victories to public sale for the first time. The putter is available for pre-order now at $549, right-hand only.

What is different about the Phantom 9.5R?

The 9.5R shares its rounded-mallet shape with the Phantom 9R and 9.2R, softer-contoured versions of the original Phantom 9 that launched in 2024. Its distinguishing feature is an elongated "Jet" hosel that produces more toe flow, letting the face rotate more freely through the stroke than its siblings. Scotty Cameron built the shape for golfers who make an arcing stroke and want to feel the putter release through impact, rather than the fully face-balanced feel typical of larger mallets.

The head is milled from 303 stainless steel with an aluminum sole plate and adjustable sole weights, a combination that shifts weight toward the perimeter for added stability on off-center strikes. Like the rest of the 2026 Phantom lineup apart from the Phantom 12, it uses a full-face Studio Carbon Steel insert with chain-link milling, and a single sightline runs nearly the full length of the head for alignment.

How did the Phantom 9.5R end up on the PGA Tour?

Cameron Young put a prototype in play at the 2025 RBC Heritage after working with Scotty Cameron rep Brad Cloke, and has since won three PGA Tour events with it, including the 2026 Players Championship. Justin Thomas switched to a version of Young's setup at this year's Truist Championship, and Jackson Koivun won the 3M Open with a 9.5R in just his third professional start after working with rep Drew Page. Keith Mitchell added the putter to his bag at the FedEx St. Jude Championship.
