UCLA Freshman Michelle Xing Ties Record With 65 to Win Annika

UCLA freshman Michelle Xing shot a 7-under 65 in the final round of the Annika Intercollegiate to win medalist honors in her first collegiate start, tying the program's low 18-hole score by a freshman.

Xing began the day five shots behind Wake Forest junior Chloe Kovelesky at Royal Golf Club in Lake Elmo, Minnesota, then carded eight birdies in windy conditions to finish a shot clear of Kovelesky. Her 65 was the low round of the week; only 10 players in the field broke par.

Wake Forest won the team title for the fourth time and second straight year, the only team to shoot under par in every round of the three-day event. Havanna Torstensson placed third for the Demon Deacons and Macy Pate tied for fifth. USC's Sarah Hammett shot 67 on Wednesday to give the Trojans the field's other low round of the week, and Oregon, Auburn and South Carolina rounded out the top five teams.
